Chuck Ketchel, LCSW
Chuck Ketchel, a licensed Clinical Social Worker has practiced as a psychotherapist since 1984 and is certified in EMDR therapy and hypnotherapy. He studied at Hunter College School of Social Work where he received a master's degree. His earliest mentor was Dr. Efren Ramirez who recommended Chuck, in 1972, as a trainer for drug counselors at the Training for Living Institute in NYC right after graduating from high school, and where he worked until the program lost funding due to the fiscal crisis in New York City in 1975. Dr. Ramirez had been his therapist and was the first to introduce him to existential psychology, Carl Jung, and Carlos Castaneda. Chuck and his wife Jeanne, also a psychotherapist, practiced marital therapy jointly until shortly before her death in 2001. They trained professionals in marital treatment therapies and conducted seminars for couples wishing to tackle the deeper challenges in marriage, to achieve real intimacy and partnership. Chuck has also trained professionals in the use of active imagination and EMDR as therapy treatments. He is a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and practiced the Magical Passes of Tensegrity in workshops under the tutelage of Carlos Castaneda, his cohorts, and apprentices since 1995.
Chuck's major treatment specialty is in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, where he leads many patients through the healing journey of recovering and integrating dissociated parts of themselves on their journey to wholeness. Chuck utilizes active imagination, conscious dreaming, EMDR, hypnosis, and Recapitulation Therapy to help his patients contact and face their lost selves. Through his work with PTSD Chuck has learned that dissociation experiences through trauma have the secondary value of teaching people how to have an out of body experience; that is, access their energy body, which opens the gateway to infinity. For patients inclined to explore their evolutionary potential, this is a goldmine. Chuck and Jeanne always pondered and explored infinity throughout their thirty-year relationship. After Jeanne was diagnosed with cancer, in addition to exploring alternative cancer treatments throughout the world, they became obsessed with out of body experience in preparation for Jeanne's entrance into infinity. Chuck lives and practices in New York's Hudson Valley, loving, respecting, and launching the three children he and Jeanne brought into this world.
Jan Hughes, CH
Jan Hughes, a certified consulting hypnotist, is also an artist and writer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. In the early 1970s she illustrated children's books for G. P. Putnam's Sons Publishers in New York City, then moved to Stockholm, Sweden where she lived for six years. While there she traveled, learned to speak fluent Swedish, and worked as a freelance artist for magazine and book publishers. She became active in the Swedish illustrators and writers organizations, receiving grants from both of them, enabling her to continue her illustration and writing career.
Returning to New York City in 1981, she continued as a freelance illustrator in book and magazine publishing, working for Scholastic Books, Parent's Magazine Press, and on national advertising campaigns for American Express, Pepperidge Farm, and Lever Bros., among others. Eventually, she went into book editing and production, working for Matthew Bender, and Applause Theatre Books. Her own version of Noah and the Ark, which she wrote and illustrated, was published in 1986. She has written articles on the arts for local publications, and worked as a publicity writer for individual artists and arts organizations.
Eventually, Jan returned to the Hudson Valley where she had grown up and began a business painting children's furniture, and as a house painter, painting faux finishes and murals. As a member of the Tivoli Artists Co-op, in Tivoli, New York she became well known in the local arts community as an active, caring individual, a promoter of the arts, helping institute artist studio tours, and engaging in organizing many arts related activities. Her own artwork, in private collections world wide, has continually evolved to the point of abstraction, and has been shown locally, nationally, and internationally in both solo and group shows.
In 2002, a few months after Jeanne Ketchel's death, Jan began receiving personal messages of guidance from her. Jeanne appeared to her in holographic like visions, dreams, and channeled messages that Jan documented and embraced as guidance during a time of change in her own life. As the messages changed, from very personal and specific aid, to more universal guidance it became clear that Jeanne had a mission. Jan made the decision to become involved in the mission of Jeanne Marie Ketchel, to awaken the sleeping spirit in all of us, and has unwaveringly documented and passed on what she has learned. To assist in this endeavor, Jan certified as a consulting hypnotist, and entered into clinical practice with Chuck, offering assistance to people on their journeys. Jan lives in the Hudson Valley, loving, guiding, respecting, and encouraging her two children, Nick and Maggie, on their own journeys in this life.
